My Altered Cricut Cartridge Case

Good morning everyone! I can finally say it is a beautiful sunny morning! After the horrendous winter we have had and the record breaking snow.

Today I want to share a project I created upcycling. I started with an old Cricut cartridge box. Remember the ones that were cardboard with a magnetic closure?  I then picked out my paper. It is the Prima Lyric collection.  Love it!

I started by roughing up the surface of the  Cricut box with some sandpaper to take some of the shiny layer off so that the paint will stick to it better. Then I coated it with a layer of Martha Stewart acrylic paint.

Then I measured and cut my paper, then I used Claudine Hellmuth Matte Studio Multi Medium to adhere and also to coat the entire box, inside and out after I had adhered all of the pieces of paper.

Then I used Dina Wakely's White Gesso to add some dimension to my box. I used a damask stencil and applied the gesso to a section of the lid and the side.

I then made some some embellishments with some air-dry clay. After  they dried in the mold, I picked some images from the coordinating paper and used Glossy Accents to adhere the paper to the back of the frames. Then I filled the front of the frame with Glossy Accents making a pool that when dry looks as if it is a frame covered with glass. I also brushed the clay butterflies with Star Dust Stickles.

One more embellishment to prepare, I took a glass piece and using Glossy Accents, I adhered the bird from the Lyric line. Perfect! I have a floral spray also from the Lyric line. I added some of the gesso to the edges of the petals.

I found some vintage lace in my stash, and trimmed all of the edges, inside and out, with it. I also fussy cut another bird out and coated it with Glossy Accents to make it stand out.

Here are the pics of my finished box.

Hope you like my Altered Cricut Box. Have a great day!!!
